KIT - Lehre Hoch Forschung PLUS

The "Lehre Hoch Forschung"(Teaching to the power of Research) project is dedicated to improving the quality of teaching at KIT. In particular, the aim of this project is to integrate research-relevant content into the courses. In addition, new course offerings are being created within the framework of Lehre Hoch Forschung, which are versed in new teaching and learning concepts.

The sub-project, which is being carried out here at the chair, is specifically dedicated to interdisciplinary mathematics education and the development of modern teaching and learning platforms.

Project description

As part of the project "KIT Lehre hoch Forschung", funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Chair of Computer Architecture and Parallel Processing of Prof. Karl offers the . Current problems from ongoing research activities of the chair in various areas such as parallel programming with different programming models (such as MPI, OpenMP, Cuda, OpenCL) are included in the practical course. Research-related applications from various areas of partial differential equations and in particular fluid mechanics are considered as examples in the practical course. Modern mathematical approaches to solving these problems are taught and the use of high-performance computers is explained using practical examples. Problems are worked on in small groups on a project basis, the results are presented in a report and presented in final lectures. In addition, an interactive teaching and learning platform is being actively developed, which visually presents the subject matter of the practical course and enables students to grasp the theoretical principles at their own pace and apply them to practical tasks.
