Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Karl was appointed to the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), formerly the University of Karlsruhe (TH), Faculty of Computer Science in 2003. He studied computer science with a minor in mathematics at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. From 1987 to 2003, he was a research assistant at the Chair of Computer Technology and Computer Organization (Prof. Dr. Arndt Bode) at the Technical University of Munich. He received his doctorate in 1992 and habilitated in 2002 at the Faculty of Computer Science at the Technical University of Munich. His research focuses on computer architecture, in particular on heterogeneous parallel computer architectures and their efficient use, adaptive and self-organizing systems, approximate computing.
